Many people who have heard Marmar Oso and his music will describe him as someone with a fresh new take on the R&B genre. He carries a load of soul in his arsenal to pour into his art, which makes him an interested listener.
After releasing “Ruthless” in 2018, it became his first step to international fame and recognition. This put him on the map as a force to be reckoned with. With more than 13.4 million views on his videos, he slowly started gaining ground on other social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
Starting with his breakout single at just 19, he has less than five years of experience in the industry but breaking records left and right with more than 42 million streams across all major music platforms.
Despite his rise to stardom, he remains humble and gives all glory to God.
Growing up, he remembers losing a few friends along the way but overall, his childhood was good, moving from Hawaii to Sacramento. It was a big part of his life, and he credits that life to have inspired the artist he is today.
However, like many of us, he was never a fan of school or education. His entire plan was either join the military or follow his dreams. In hindsight, it seems like he made the right decision.
Marmar Oso considers himself a sensitive person, yet, always a goofball whenever it’s warranted and he feels like it. This part of his personality played a huge role in his career as he found himself working several jobs and mostly getting fired from them due to his free spirit and his knack for breaking the rules.
He was never a firm believer in the idea of having rules, obviously, and always wanted to have some fun and live his life without restraints.
What started as homemade videos of him rapping a few lines in his car suddenly made it to the studio where he was recording his songs and releasing them on SoundCloud. It eventually blew up and went viral.

Apart from Drake, he also draws inspiration from the people in his life, like his girlfriend. Being an artist herself plays well into their relationship as both independent artists, helping each other out and supporting each other through their careers.
Much of his newer releases have to do with love and relationships. He is embodying the person he wants to be in his relationship and making it into a song that more people can listen to and relate to.
Marmar says he’s heavily influenced by his mother’s upbringing and how she always advocated loyalty, so he tries to incorporate that in his music and talks highly about being faithful.
