Hans Seeberg, known in the musical realm as ‘Hasmo’, is a multi-talented artist who has recently stepped into the limelight. As a songwriter, guitarist, bass player, and drummer, Hasmo’s art, fueled by passion, is one that, in his words, can “change your mood and your life.”
Primarily describing his music as “poppy, rocky, melodic, and dreamy,” Hasmo aims to uplift his listeners, placing them in a happy, dreamlike state. Embodying a sense of musical familiarity while maintaining originality, Hasmo’s work echoes his all-time favorite song, ‘God Only Knows’ by the Beach Boys.
The emerging artist released his first Extended Play (EP), “Wasting Time”, on April 29th – a collection he recorded from his house. The EP contains two key singles, “In & Out” and “Feeling”, displaying his impressive craftsmanship and versatility as an artist.
“In & Out” is an energetic ballad with well-tuned vocals and instrumentation. “Feeling”, on the other hand, starts with a dreamy guitar that feels like it belongs on the score of a beautiful cinematic experience. Earning some listeners, these soulful compositions reveal Hasmo’s talent and passion for music-making and certainly debunk any assumptions of him being relatively new to the scene.
Listeners can now stream “Wasting Time” on Spotify, and brace themselves for Hasmo’s upcoming second EP, “Big Mistake”, slated for release in late June.
For as long as he can remember, Hasmo has always been drawn towards music. He recalls jamming with his older brother as an 8-year-old, a fond memory marking the beginning of his path into music. As the world grappled with the Covid-19 pandemic, the opportunity to write his songs presented itself. Equipped with Logic, a software for music creation, Hasmo embarked on his songwriting journey – one not intended towards fame but merely a humble expression of his creative prowess.
Despite his understated ambition, Hasmo appreciates the prospect of growth. He mused, “I’m just making music in my house so don’t want to be a star or anything, but interested in growing as an artist and building my catalog of music and career.”
Although he does not seek accolades, he aspires that his music resonates with listeners in a way that leaves songs playing on repeat in their minds, just as they do in his. His children, who are among his first listeners, gave him the first semblance of validation with a gentle nod of approval.
If he could collaborate with any artist, Sarah Cracknell from Saint Etienne would top his list. He stands firm in the belief that an idea and an instrument are all one needs to create music, as proven by his journey.
Hasmo’s passion-filled, inspiring journey gives budding musicians a beacon of hope, signaling that anyone with an idea and a sense of rhythm can tread the path to artistic expression. We all wait in eager anticipation for his second EP, “Big Mistake”, that promises to introduce us to more relatable themes and enchanting tunes—and we cannot wait.
